Truth Trackers

I must say one of the most fun and rewarding things this summer has brought Daniel and I has been coordinating the kids program at our church. The name of the program is called Truth Trackers. Its a really neat program that emphasizes basic theology and Bible study for children.
A little soap box chat here... feel free to skip this paragraph if you don't want to hear my educational blabber. No one is too young to learn theology... now the depth of the theology will vary with different ages, but... kids can understand at a very early age basic things about God that will set the stage for genuine salvation and Christian growth. A lot of Sunday School teachers tell great stories about amazing events right from the Bible!!! Parting the Red Sea, lions dens, giants... no doubt about it, this stuff makes for great stories!!!! But don't forget the main character of every story is God. I asked my elementary students this week who the story of Shadrack, Meshack, and Abednago (sorry if the spelling is wrong) was about, and after a few guesses (including the obvious characters as mentioned in the title), one of the little girls said, "Oh! Its all about God!" She got it. Anyways, so... we're teaching our church kids basic theology. God is one, God is three, God is spirit, God is in charge of everything, God is everywhere... the basics.
The kids are really learning a lot and having a great time. As they bring visitors, do their devotions, participate in the theme for the night, they get points to help them earn a special treat. We started with a popsicle party, then a soda party, then an ice cream party, and next Wednesday, for our concluding week, they are going to enjoy a pizza party!!!

Daniel playing.... wait, no leading games.

Playing games.

Most night we had a special theme... including, wear your favorite color night, crazy hair night, water night, and my favorite... dress like an inanimate object night. That one was a really fun night. In case you didn't catch the theme, everybody was supposed to dress like an object that was not animate :) Fun theme and amazing pictures!!!
In case you need clarification, from right to left the inanimate obhects are as follows:
Lady Liberty, a pillow, a cross, and a flower.

This leader forgot his costume so I put a makeshift costume together for him on site.
He's a garbage can...

Daniel is a lamp and I am a cell phone.
God has blessed our summer program richly. We've had a lots of visiting kids!!! At our camp out in the middle of the summer, one sweet girl accepted Christ as her Savior. I think a snippet from our conversation would make a great conclusion to this post.

"Why would He [Jesus] do that for me. To be nice or something???"
"That is a great question!!! He did it because he loves you."
