Our Anniversary Part 1: London Bridges Falling Down...

Wow... its been a year all ready!!!!!!!!!!! To celebrate our first anniversary, we took a trip up to Lake Havasu, a small tourist attraction on the western side of Arizona, not too far from the border of California. For our budget and our limited time frame, it was a perfect little get away for the weekend. We had a wonderful time celebrating our first year as husband and wife.

The most notable attraction of Lake Havasu city is the London Bridge. I thought it was the most bizarre place to find a historical artifact like this one. The bridge is the actual London bridge... yes, the one from the nursery rhyme. The bridge was failing in London due to excessive traffic; it was sinking 1/8th of an inch every year. Problematic... Robert P. McClough bought the bridge in 1968. The bridge was taken apart brick by brick. Each brick was numbered and put back together (like a big jig-saw puzzle ) in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. Apparently, there are markings on it from WWI I combat. Needless to say, it has seen a lot of history. This isn't where the nursery rhyme came from. Apparently, the rhyme was created when the Vikings tied ropes to the bridge and started sailing away... thus causing to to "fall down." The bridge once stretched across the Thames and now it reaches across the Colorado river. 

The visitor center and tourists shops look like mini-London.

 We found a sun glass shop with some novelty glasses.
